FOMO

Updated: Nov 10, 2023

Have you ever been "diagnosed" with FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out)? It is a real thing. Today's social media culture has exacerbated this condition as we see others going places and doing things that appeal to us as well.

I admit, that I can succomb to this condition at times. I am a goer and a doer. I love to meet people, experience life, to see things and go places. I enjoy culture and travel. It is part of who I am, of how God made me.

But as I consider this "condition", I recognize that it can be a positive thing, when we let the Holy Spirit direct us. But when we let our sinful nature take over, we may start to notice symptoms of discontent, jealousy and frustration. So this behooves me to examine my heart and my motives.

Some treatment measures that I have found to be effective in alleviating these sympoms include learning to "rejoice with those who rejoice", being prayerful for others and having a spirit of ongoing gratefulness! When we live in a state of gratitude and contentment, we are able to better handle those times when we may "miss out", trusting that God has a better purpose, a redeeming plan. As we cultivate a grateful heart, we find ourself in a state of thankful awe for the many blessings we experience day by day. We start to appreciate the little things, to find contentment in the glories of simple living.

But there IS something that we all should be intentional about when it comes to FOMO. May we, as God's children, recognize that all peoples should have FOMO when it comes to Heaven and spending eternitiy with Jesus. There will be no greater "missing out" than that! Ever! How sad it is that so many do not know or understand just what they will be missing out on. There are those who still have not heard the "Good News"! Then there are those who are being decieved, who do not yet understand God's plan of salvation for their lives. Do not comprehend the Gospel message. Have not yet obtained their ticket of redemption (only through the blood of Christ and a surrender of their lives to Him!)

And not only that! So many are missing out on the "now" with Jesus! Today. On this side of Heaven! They are not experiencing the powerful purpose, the tranquil peace and the jubilant joy that only He provides.

May we, as His children, have a heart of love and compassion for the lost. May we be willing to be used! To help gather in those who would otherwise be "missing out"!

May it be that no one that the Lord brings into our lives, will have to realize the reality of FOMO for all eternity.

May all of us recognize that when it comes to being His hands and feet, we all should have

FOMO.

The FOMO of helping others find the ticket of grace for the FOMO on their soul's salvation!

Today I have been wincing. In pain. I did something to a hip muscle. Or so it seems. Might have something to do with the way I lifted those heavy chairs yesterday. But unfortunately, today there was n
