I'm Cold

I'm cold. And I don't like it.

Guess I will turn up the heat. Or don a warmer, cozier sweater. Or flip on the fireplace.

I'm hungry. And I don't like it.

Guess I'll open the frig. Check out the pantry. Stop for a Latte'

I'm bored. And I don't like it.

Guess I'll check out a movie, or check into flights, or stop at the mall.

Creature comforts. Materialistic manuevers. First world problems.

Are we maybe a little spoiled? Maybe even a little entitled at times?

I am speaking first to me here...

may the Lord help me/us to take a pause, to ponder perspective.

In this world we live in, we just may be getting soft, and weak.

There was something to be said for the pioneer spirit, the resiliance of the struggler, the purity of simplicity.

Those days may be returning when we don't have every thing we need at our fingertips. When we might actually need to start digging in the soil for something other then impressive delights of decorative florals and hobby veggies.

But in the meantime, in this blessed time, may we saturate our minds with gratitude, utilize our time for worthwhile endeavors and recognize the value of productivity in a physical and philanthropic sense.

It really boils down to being Spirit-led and Spirit-fed. When we immerse ourselves in His Word, and look at our days as opportunities, we take our minds off ourselves and life grows in meaningfulness.

May our tendencies to be self-serving be altered on the alter of loving self sacrifice. May we proceed with humility and "others-ism." May it never be said of us, as we rubbed shoulders with the world around us, that we were cold.

Lord, kindle the fire of love and service within us. Warm our hearts, Lord, that we might warm others!

LORD, Help me grow in "Others-ism"!
