It Looks Like Grace

This picture! It is a picture of the stairs going up to the second floor in the dear, old, cherished farmhouse in which I was raised. It is a picture of...yes, stairs. And, to me, it looks like grace!
Why you may ask? Because it brings back a memory from the most profound and meaningful moment of my life. It was on that landing, there at the top of the stairs, when on June 18, 1975, a little after midnight, I sat and had a conversation with my God! One that changed my life forever!
As I sat there, praying, contemplating whether or not to go down those stairs and go tell my parents that I wanted to give my life to Jesus from a place of repentance and surrender, as I felt the struggle within, I came to know the power and beauty of God's grace!
Walking down those stairs was momentous! Each step, a step closer to surrender, a step away from living a life of "my own way". And with each step, God's grace carried me. And it has been carrying me ever since, one step of faith, at a time.
Have you yet taken that step of faith? The one where you say, "Yes Lord, I need you, I want you, I am yours!" If you have not, it is my prayer that you will today. It will be the best decision you will ever make! He will meet you where you are, and carry you forward with His power and grace!
His grace is sufficient. It is beautiful, it is redemptive and it can by yours.
A life of knowing His deep peace and redemptive hope awaits. A life of meaning and purpose. A life led by His Spirit and immersed in His love. Not a perfect life. Not a "bed of roses" as they say. But a life of abundant joy and sanctification. A life that prepares you for the one that is to come.
Do you find yourself in a potentially pivotal place today? Your "upstairs landing" so to speak? Go ahead dear friend. With a prayerful, faith-filled heart, take that step today! That step....
that looks like Grace!
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God Ephesians 2:8 ESV
