So we recently were blessed to be in the beautiful Cayman's. The beach was pristine. So lovely. But it was not perfectly pristine. For somewhat unsightly brownish seaweed washed upon the shore, daily, as the tropical breezes stirred up the waters and the waves would dump their contents on the recieving sands!
Seeing the resort's tractor pulling the "sand sweeper" along the coast was part of the daily routine. Back and forth it went, cleaning up the seaweed, leaving a lovely coastline behind. For a time.
The seaweed returned. The windier the day, the more seaweed would be washed ashore. It made me think, or muse if you will...
It behooves us as God's children, to daily go to Him, in prayer and allow Him to sweep and haul away the unsightly and unsaintly parts of our life. Only when we come to Him, our "soul-sweeper" with a sincere and contrite heart can this be done. And He leaves the coastline of our life, more pictureqe, a better example for those to observe, those who walk along this stretch of life's beach with us. The sin-weed will never be completely gone this side of eternity; there will always be signs of our human nature. How thankful we are for the reality that when it comes to salvation, we can only achieve it through Christ.
But that does not mean that we don't want our life to reflect well for Him. For as His child, that is a given desire, a natural heart inclination.
I am reminded of that poem "Footprints". Likely you all recall the response to the question about the times when only one set of footprints is seen in the sand. "It is then that I carried you" replies Jesus, in the poem. But in actuality, isn't that ALWAYS the case? If we are letting Him? He is always carrying us and helping us navigate the shifting sands, the swirling waters, the crashing waves. He helps us see the beauty, the shimmering sunlight, the glorious sunrises and sunsets, the pristine shore. He is able to help us "keep it up".
Keeping it up by keeping on. With Jesus. Every day! May the coast line of our lives be ones of beauty and awe. All because of our "soul-sweeper" Jesus!
"Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin." Psalm 51:2
