How is that for random? Just thought I would have some fun with that title:)
But this is the thing. The story. Last Friday took an unexpected twist. Around lunch time I decid,ed to snack on a bag of popcorn. As I mindlessly threw handfuls of popcorn into my mouth while distracted and intent on reading a newletter, I inadvertantly (of course) bit into an unpopped kernal. Crack!
A look in the mirror and a swish with my tongue confirmed my fear. A broken tooth! How thankful I was to be able to get into the dentist within an hour of the unfortunate incident (and within a half hour of their closing time). "Oh no. It is all the way to the roots" said my dentist. "You need an oral surgeon". Before long I was driving from Pontiac to Bloomington to say good-bye to my tooth #19 forever. Upon being x-rayed, it was determined that there was an issue with #17 and it had to go as well.
To say I was experiencing some concerns and a bit of anxiety would be accurate. I realize in the scheme of things this is not that big of a deal. But it is a deal nonetheless (and a very expensive one at that). As I sat in the chair awaiting the oral surgeon to come in, I was praying and thinking about how God knew this is how my day was going to go, all along. I decided to do the Wordle puzzle while I waited.
Guess 3 had me to a place where I knew the last 4 letters, A-I-T-H. I just needed that first letter. As the realization of the word hit me, I was filled with a sweet wave of peace, knowing that God had just paid me a special visit. As He told me to have FAITH, he assured me of His loving presense.
How thankful I was. His peace overwhelmed me as my two teeth were tugged, drilled into, broken up and removed. It went well. Considering.
Looking back on the experience, I recognized two special life lessons. First, we should be aware of the danger of mindlessly going through life, and recognize that Satan can show up to destroy and break our lives at any moment, and we need to be focused on our surroundings and the kernels of deception and temptation he puts in our way.
And secondly, God cares about even the small things. He is there and He will see us through. No matter the ....
Kernel or the Konsequence! Thank you Jesus! I need you!
