Knowing where to Look

The other day, I was on a hunt. For my light-wieght jacket, not that the item matters. But what does, is the lesson re-learned.

We were all packed up and ready to take off from our recent VRBO to our next stop on our vacation journey. As I was ready to get into our SUV, it occurred to me that I was not sure where that jacket was. It is my "go-to" jacket. I grab it every time we head into a potentially over air-conditioned (in my opinion, not my husband's) place. It is perfect for curbing the chill.

Anyway, I thought it was in suitcase A. I looked quickly, moving this pile of and then that one. Not there. I then began to look more aggessively, removing this indiviual piece of clothing, and that one. Still nothing. Finally, I opted to take on the time consuming task of unpacking and repacking said suitcase in the hopes of finally retrieving the now well sought after allusive light wieght, white jacket. Frustratingly, after all of that, I still did not find it. I then went out to the vehicle to check out the smaller, Suitcase B. I opened the top zipper. Within a millisecond it seemed, the lost was found. I had been looking in the wrong place all along.

And so it is with our life. At times, we are looking for purpose and joy in all the wrong places, as they say. Materialism, vacations, experiences, notoriety, status, achievements, adventure...but despite it all, the peace and joy one desires can be allusive.

It isn't until we look to our Savior, to His Word and His loving ways, that we find ourselves immersed in that beautiful sense of peace and purpose. Finally, it seems, that no matter the challenges surrounding our lives, "all is right with the world". For we find our "right" in the source of all righteousness. In Jesus. For He is....

where to look!
