Lighting our Path

Some days are hard. There is confusion all around us. Lies come wrapped in a box labeled truth. Culture screams hater when our motivation speaks love. Many authority figures...shouldn't be. Role models model life-styles and values that roll towards destruction.

Then there is the day to day decisions. Should I go there? Do this? Is this Kingdom growing opportunity for me or maybe for someone else? If I say yes to this, what will I be saying no to? Do my kids need this or should we pass on it? Should I give my kids more independence or less? Am I spending enough time with my kids, enough time with my folks? How do I respond to this question in a way that shows compassion but yet speaks truth? How much "me time" is self care and how much is self-ish? Should I spend money on this, or not? How much should we give for this and for that? Should I get up and exercise or get more sleep? Should I relax or accomplish? How can I balance time spent feeding from God's Word and time spent feeding others? Should I have a latte or maybe an americano? Decisions face us every time we turn around it seems. Big ones and little ones. Fun ones and annoying ones. Easy ones and hard ones.

What to do and where to turn. It can be hard at times. Sometimes answers have to wait as we wait on God's answers. But I am sure you all know where this is going.

Our road map, our illuminator for life's pathway, is God's Word. It will show us the way. Its' Words point to values, character traits, goals and perspectives, that pave and guide our path.

Sometimes the answer may be unclear. The Word tells us to seek a multitude of counselors (of course godly counselors). Sometimes the Word tells us to simply "wait on the Lord". Sometimes the Spirit, directs us to step out in faith. I love the way the Lord speaks to us in the black and white (and red) letters. Other times, the Word, because it is living, stirs in our soul and tugs at our heartstrings, like reins nudging us in the way we should go. Don't you love those times when you just know that the Lord was speaking to YOU? The timing of a certain Scripture was not a coincidence, but an obvious moving of the Spirit. The thoughts that accompanied the written read Word, brings a peace that you know is God inspired!

So as this world grows crazier, as our corner of the world (ideologically speaking) is shrinking, as potential persecution and real intimidation sadly become the norm of our culture, may we all dig in. To Jesus, to our communities of faith, and to God's Word....

that lights our path!

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path... Psalm 119:105

Wincing and Worship

Today I have been wincing. In pain. I did something to a hip muscle. Or so it seems. Might have something to do with the way I lifted those heavy chairs yesterday. But unfortunately, today there was n
