Masters and Jacks

Updated: Sep 23, 2024

You've heard the saying, right? A "jack of all trades and a master of none"? The phase dates all the way back to the 14th century. So there have been quite a few "jacks" around since that time. Likely many more, then the more occasional, amazing masters! Those "masters" who are the show stoppers, the sky-high achievers, the notable change makers. They exist and thus we have had amazing shows, phenominal achievements and remarkable changes. True, masters do not work in isolation, but work, they do!

So, what about you and what about me? Are you one of the masters with a skill or ability that is above par? Is so, thank you for all you are doing! You likely amaze me :)

But if you are more in the "jack of all trades" camp, pull up a lawn chair and have a s'more :)

Because that is so me. I have a diverse range of interests and abilities, just ask my husband. I can do a variety of things decent enough. But I ain't stoppin' no shows :)

As I consider this pardigm, I have to ask myself a more important question. Who is the Master of all I aim for, of all I do? Who motivates me? Who do I ascribe to? To whom do I want any glory to go?

I think you know where I am going with this. When we make Jesus the Master of our lives, no matter what we are spending our time being a jack of, it makes the end result worthwhile and meaningful. Jesus as our Master! More important by far, then being a "Master"! May we all look to Him today, and as a Jack of many "trades:, may we always hold as our Master...

THE one!
