Moonlit Pathways

This evening was lovely. The breeze was blowing softly as I walked along the welcoming, meandering sidewalk in front of our new ranch home. Though it was night, the brilliant moon above showered my pathway with soft illuminence, creating an almost ethereal experience as I navigated the walkway. It had a surreal feeling. And as I walked, I prayed. Looking up at the star studded sky, against the glow of the October moon.
The moon, beautiful, bright and illuminating. Unable to shine on its own, yet reflecting the brilliance of the mighty sun behind it.
And I pondered as I walked. And I realized, that as the moon is, so am I. Nothing on my own, but a humble and willing reflection of my brilliant, loving, Jesus. He who walks beside me. He whose name is light. For Jesus is "the light of the world" (John 8:12). He who stands behind me, yet goes before me.
May I, may we, ever be a willing vessel to carry the light of Jesus, to help others see the way to go, the pathway to take, through this dark and winding world.
Shine on dear Jesus. Through me!
