Precious Profundity

Updated: Nov 20, 2025

The other day, our four year old grandaughter made a statement, that when put in a different context, was maybe one of the most profound things I have heard for quite some time.

We were sitting outside enjoying the warm sunshine and the brisk Autumn breeze. As a plane flew by, gleaming against the clear blue sky, I pointed it out. She looked up and exclaimed, "I can tell its shape, but I can't tell its bigness".

Upon hearing that precious little comment, the Holy Spirit almost immediately took my heart and mind to a deeper meaning. When we are thinking about our mighty God, we often can note His shape. We sense Him, see Him working, are aware of His power and presence. But when it comes to His bigness, we really don't even have a clue. Do we? His creative abilities, His almighty strength, His enduring mercy, His amazing love! Bigger then our finite minds can comprehend! He is working behind the scenes of our lives, in ways so much bigger and better then we can imagine. If we are putting our faith in Him. For our faith is the hinge that sweeps open His power. His bigness.

So thank-you sweet grandaughter, for your precious profundity, for making this grandma think and then share, of the untold and unimaginable BIGness of our God! I love the way God used you, to remind me once again of a profound, amazing and BIG Truth!
