The MOST we can do!

Do you ever feel helpless?

Do you ever carry a concern or a burden that you so wish you could act upon and alleviate, especially for someone you love?

But you realize, you can't. It is their's to carry. Their's to figure out.

You can advise (if asked). You can share helpful insights, or podcasts, or that which is best of all... scipture. You can do your own research to glean understanding and perspective. But you can't alter the situation. You can't change it directly.

But there is something you CAN do! Something, that we often preface by saying...well,at least I can pray!"

No my friend. You have that wrong. Prayer is not "the least" you can do. It is the MOST!

Why? Because when you pray you are bringing your loved one/s and their situation to the throne room of the God of the universe, the Creator of all that is. You are petitioning the love, compassion and mighty power of our all-mighty, sovereign God.

God can change things. He can work in ways beyond our wildest imaginations.

He asks us to trust Him. He loves when we come to Him in humble prayer, seeking His help and guidance. He loves it because it brings us into relationship with HIm, and He is a God of relationship! He loves us and loves being with us. Via the avenue of prayer, we find ourselves in His divine and loving presence.

So this evening (after writing the main portion of this blog), I opened and decided to read from tomorrow's devotional by Billy Graham. It was on "Fervent Prayer". (I love it when that happens!) It shared of the many examples in the Bible of those who prayed and saw God move. He listed Elijah, Elisha, Hannah, Samuel and Paul. He went on and shared that "their prayers were the natural overflow of their deep inner faith". When we seek God, coming to Him with a heart of trust, knowing He is THE one to turn to and only He, it must please His Father heart as He beholds His faith-filled child. And in return, the answers to our prayers, then fuel our faith to greater heights. A beautiful faith cycle! True, at times, our prayers are not answered, or at least not like we had hoped. But the exercise of prayer, in itself, is faith strengthening when we allow our Spirit to be divinely touched by His presence!

So go there, my friend. Often. To God. In prayer. For whatever and whomever is on your heart and mind.

It is the MOST you can do!
