It is that time of year. We all are making our lists, checking them twice.
Lists for this and for that.
To Do Lists, grocery lists, shopping lists and yes...
gift lists.
What kind of a shopper are you? Is gift giving your thing?
Do you like to be creative and somewhat of a risk-taker? After all, coming up with the perfect gift, could potentially be a strike-out, and well, a waste of your money.
That is why some of us are more like...hey here's some cash, get what you want. Or, send me the link....and I'll wrap it. Yep, can't go wrong with that avenue. But it lacks something when it comes to being thoughtful, to making gift giving a way of expressing care and love.
They say it is more blessed to give then recieve. And I would tend to agree. There is nothing quite like giving a gift, that is a winner, one that brings a squeal of delight, a sparkle to the eyes, or even a tearful hug!
But then too, have you ever been the recipient of the "perfect gift"? One that brought an exclaimation of joy and a smile that about broke your face? A gift, that once opened, gave you a warm feeling, deep down, as you reflected on how fine it was. A gift that you went and looked at for days afterwards, always eliciting a smile, as you contemplated its perfection.
And does not that gift, bring along with it a surge of love for the giver. To be so well known, is to be well loved. And that is what makes it a gift of the heart. For it was bestowed by someone who cared enough to know you well enough to know what would give you that glow.
And that my friend, is where this post if going. It's going to acknowlege the best gift the world has ever known. The gift for all mankind and for all time. The gift of ultimate love, given by Love Himself.
So as we reflect upon the gift of this Christmas Season, on a tiny babe, wrapped in swaddling clothes, sleeping on a bed of hay, may we breathe in the dusky stable air, and sense the awesomeness of His presence. Our loving God. Come down. To us. To Earth. To live. And model. And die. And arise. To love like no one has ever loved before or since.
A gift from His Father. Our Father. The Giver
of love...
the perfect Gift from the perfect Giver.
Merry Christmas!
