The Straight and Narrow

Updated: Sep 4, 2023

We just got back from an amazing boat and bike trip along the Danube and through four European countries! What a wonderful experience! A BIG adventure with our BIG God!

As we were biking throught the scenic countryside, we found ourself at one point, on a narrow bike bridge, pedaling over a river and beside a busy road. We had been informed of this passage, but were unaware of how looong this trek of the journey would be.

As we started over, it seemed like not that big of a deal. But the longer it went, the harder it became to concentrate on not swaying and bumping into the sides of that narrow bike bridge. I just kept pedaling, taking deep breaths, keeping my eyes in front of me, not looking to the side or down (despite the glorious view that I could have beheld) and praying. Praying to God to keep me focused, pedaling and safe. To make it across the "straight and narrow" to the glorious beauty of the path on the other side!

I probably do not need to say anymore, as I am sure you all can see the analogy already. As we trek along this path of life, let's keep focused on our Heavenly goal, keep breathing in deep of the Spirit's grace, avoid being distracted by the pleasures that surround us and keep praying, constantly abiding, in Him who can see us safely through to the other side.

Thank you Jesus for your abundant grace and mercies, for the power of your Spirit that keeps us pressing on to the other side on this way that is beautiful, glorious and full of such joys, but that is also.....

straight and narrow!

"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it." Matt. 7:13 NKJV
