There was a Frog in the Pool Today!

As I was swimming laps at our local pool the other day, I was startled by a large frog sitting on the bottom on the black lane stripe directly below me. It was big! Another swimmer had just announced seeing a frog in the pool, but I did not expect to see it looming right there in my goggled line of vision!

The other swimmer "was a fan"! She liked it! I, on the other hand....was more intrigued then delighted! It was fun. It was interesting. But I was okay with it being removed. I realized that, come 1:00, when the kiddos started jumping in, some would be thrilled by their potential fellow swimmer, while others might be taken aback, maybe even scared. And so...to the rescue came one of the lifeguards. It took some time, but eventually Mr. or Mrs. Frog was carried safely in a heavy duty skimmer net, to a more suitable locale:)

But as I considered this fun and unusual encounter, I recognized that we all have our way of responding to and dealing with life's unexpected hoppenings (I mean happenings :). Some just want to "swim with it", others want out. Some consider the educational or adventurous benefits, while others may consider the alarm factor, or possibly even wonder if there might be a health concern.

So, as we stroke along through life, lets try to look at things through our fellow swimmer's goggles and understand where they might be swimming from... Let's do our part to keep the waters calm and look for the teachable and tangible moments that life's waters may churn up!

And as we consider the reality that we never know what a given day may bring, may we always remember the importance of starting our day, looking to our Lord, to prepare us for what He has in store, for what just might jump into our life's lane!
