U Turn Reflections

Have you ever taken an exit that you knew was wrong the minute you took it? A decision which created a consequence that you were now forced to endure?

Such happened to me last Sunday. I had left a blessed event in Peoria and was headed to Morton for song practice. My navigation indicated that my exit was coming up. Not knowing the route, I jumped the gun and took the exit right before it. It left me no option but to head over 8 miles round trip out of the way till I would eventually be back to where I had gone astray. Ugh! I felt so frustrated and helpless!

Several times I passed one of those u-turn paths where I could easily have turned around and headed back in the appropriate direction. The problem was, it was for "authorized vehicles" only! I was so tempted to just take it. But I didn't want to take the chance of getting caught.

And such it is in this journey of life. As we find ourselves heading down the path of "self", we find that it has a tendency to sweep us along in the traffic of sin, taking us further and further from that holy and joyous destination where our soul desires to be. We find ourselves anxious, frustrated. We see the turn around options, as we speed on by, but recognize that we just can't "do it by ourselves".

We need to become a passenger in an authorized vehicle; to surrender to the Sovereign authority of our life; He who can turn us around and place us on that path of peace and purpose, that our aching soul longs to find.

If you have not yet made Him the driver of your life, it is time to pull over to the side of the road and know that He will be there, to provide roadside assistance and help you to turn your life around on that u-turn driveway called repentance.

May He help you get on the right track and headed in the right direction. Today!

Oh, and by the way, thankfully, I did make it to practice in time. Lesson learned. And now, because of that experience...blog post written.

Thank you Jesus! Thank you for being my "authorized vehicle"!
