Warning; (this is a political musing)

The nation was saddend by the assination attempt on candidate Trump the other weekend. There is alot that could be said about the situation, but I am wanting to comment on the response of our President.

He took to the podium, outcrying the estrocity, saying that such political violence was not to occur in America. I do not dispute his comments. But to me, it seemed like a Dad who had laid out a table full of sweets in front of his toddlers, and then got on their case when they complained about having belly aches.

The political climate, the public polarity, the name calling, the rhetorical rubbish! These all contribute to potential acts of violence. But so does something even more fundamental. The breakdown of the family and of a safe and respectful society. And more specifically, a Godly society. Violence on the scale of what we witnessed that weekend, is often associated with mental illness, dissalusionment and lack of stability. As our country strays from the priciples laid out in the Bible, and the security of two parent homes where parents are teaching their children to respect God, others and their nation, the youth of today are dealing with anxiety, restlessness and confusion. If we want to do our part to prevent violence and safety concerns from becoming a part of mainstream life, we must go back to the basics of family and faith.

I know I am likely preaching to the choir and not saying anything you all do not already think and know. This musing is far from amusing. It is concerning and begs for change. In our hearts, our homes and our nation. God, help us all!
